Marijuana Justification

Spoke to a young pot smoker today who had everything so well explained that even I was almost convinced it would be okay for him to keep smoking pot!

Funny thing is, he had gone online and found two or three of these websites that speak at length about the glories of getting high and how all reality is subjective anyway and who is to say that being sober is that much better than staying stoned out of your gourd anyway!?

I realized after a short while that he had a whole list of reasons for toking up and I could talk to him for an hour and he would not run out. They all sounded very learned and well researched. But it was obvious that these positives were very hand-picked. Any research that turned up with the negative was simply not included in the "studies".

I just pumped him for all the justifications he had. He went on and on and when he began to slow down I prodded him again until he ran out of the wondrous benefits to smoking weed, it didn't take long; and I saw that most of the reasons did not even concern smoking marijuana, they had to do with the textile uses of the hemp plant.

He was a bright kid and had definitely done had his homework. But the research was so one-sided that it was visible to him too, in the end, that there might be more on the subject worth looking into.

I had noticed this young man during my talk to the class and even though I could see the pot-head attitude in his face, there was not that dullness that comes with chronic use. Not yet, anyway. So would this kid need to attend some detox rehab program? Not yet, anyway.

Hopefully, though, he will use some of those apparent talents to look a little further into the subject before he reaches "Perma-Fade."
